The Long Journey Into Light
Web Design by Mike Keucher
Web Design as a Hobby
Designing websites is high on my hobby list. For years, I created
websites for various companies in Bloomington and surrounding areas.
The hobby came into existence in 1998, when I created my very first website
for a seventh grade project on Lewis & Clark. I had so much fun with
it I decided to create my first personal website that same year. For
years, I owned and operated keuch.net, and at times I still regret having
let that thing expire.
In high school I created a website as the online editor of the newspaper, The North Star. I had a lot of fun with that website. When I joined the staff my freshman year in 2001 the paper no longer existed, so our class did nothing all period long. I suggested an online version to get back into the game.
I also created a website for St. Charles Catholic Church around that same time, which I still operate and am about to redesign. I also took on the website for St. Charles Summer Institute, opening online registration for the program. Now about 80% of people register online.
Once in college I began creating websites for companies, the other two
Catholic parishes in town (St. John the
Apostle and St. Paul), and for
Habitat for Humanity. Additionally
I became the Chapters Web Liaison at the
Indiana University Alumni Association and served in that position for a
year and a half.
That said, now that I am in Seminary, I am not taking on new commercial
clients at this point in time.
Need a Parish Website?
If your parish doesn't have a website, you need one! People are looking for God, and they are doing so online. Your parish's website is one place where people can find Him!
If your parish needs a website, please ask your pastor to e-mail me at mkeucher@gmail.com.
